Zayd Ibn-Thābit left Marwān's place at noon, and we guessed that Marwān could not have sent for him at this hour except for a question about a certain matter. So we got up to ask Zayd if this was so, and he confirmed, "Yes, he asked us about things we had heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, saying. I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, say, "May God favour a person who hears a ḥadīth from us and memorizes it to impart it to someone else. It may be that one bears knowledge to someone who is more knowledgeable than oneself, and it may be that the one bearing the knowledge is not a scholar.'" A good ḥadīth reported by at-Tirmithī: "the Book of Knowledge", in Sunan at-Tirmithī: ḥadīth number 2868, narrated by Zayd Ibn-Thābit Ibn aḍ-Ḍaḥḥāk Ibn-Lawthān an-Najjārī.
